About Me

Oh, me? Just your local coffee lovin’ cryptid. Or known formally as an award-winning kidlit writer-illustrator and aspiring screenwriter. I love making playful and colorful illustrations, zines, paintings, and graphic novels about self-acceptance and Latine culture.

I’ve been making children’s graphic novels and book illustrations since 2017. My books have won various awards, gained starred reviews, has been on national bestseller lists & reading summer lists.

I’m the creator of Miss Quinces, which was the first Scholastic Graphix title to be simultaneously published in English and Spanish (as Srta. Quinces), and the sequel Miss Camper.

I’m also the artist for the chapter book series The Kids in Mrs. Z’s Class published by Little, Brown Books for Young Readers. When I’m not making comics, you can find me collecting bugs, playing the bass, listening to spooky podcasts, or chasing after my pup, Roni during his zoomies session.

I live in Austin, Texas, where I’m currently a resident artist at ArtUs Co.

I’m Kat!

I’m an award-winning children’s book author-illustrator. In my spare time, I write sccreenplays and play board games.

You can catch me at a school visit, painting at my art studio, or playing with a certain squirrel obsessed pup named Roni :)
